Hen Luniau Anghofiedig – Picture The Past

Gwych! Ardderchog! Diddorol iawn! Dyma rhai o’r geiriau o ganmoliaeth a ysgrifennwyd yn llyfr ymwelwyr yr arddangosfa lwyddiannus iawn a gynhaliwyd yn Neuadd Gymunedol Maenclochog dros penwythnos yn ddiweddar.

Great! Excellent! Very interesting! Here are some words of praise written in the visitors’ book of the very successful exhibition held at Maenclochog Community Hall over a recent weekend.

Mae Ann Morris wedi bod yn casglu hen luniau o’r ardal ers nifer o flynyddoedd, a’u rhannu gyda’r Parchg. Geoffrey Eynon, brodor o Faenclochog, sydd hefyd â diddordeb byw yn hanes y pentre. Buodd Geoff yn awgrymu i Ann y byddai’n dda o beth i gynnal arddangosfa yn y neuadd, gan fod cymaint o luniau ganddynt, ond nid oeddent yn frwdfrydig iawn, ac felly “falle blwyddyn nesa'” oedd yr ymateb bob tro.

Ann Morris has been collecting old photographs of the area for a number of years, and sharing them with the Revd. Geoffrey Eynon, a native of Maenclochog, who also has a keen interest in the history of the village. Geoff suggested to Ann that it would be a good idea to hold an exhibition in the hall, as they had so many pictures, but “next year” was always the response.

Yna, daeth cynrychiolwyr o PLANED i Faenclochog i gyflwyno’r prosiect, Ein Cymdogaeth Werin. Un o amcanion y prosiect cyffrous hwn yw i gyd-weithio â chymunedau yn ardal y Preseli i greu amgueddfeydd dros dro mewn pentrefi lleol. Felly, dyma oedd y cyfle i arddangos y lluniau ynghŷd â chreiriau diddorol o’r ardal. A dyna a fu. Rhaffwyd Alun Ifans i mewn i gynorthwyo Ann Morris a’i gwr Kenfin, ac mae ein diolch yn fawr iddo.

Then, representatives from PLANED came to Maenclochog to introduce the project, Preseli Heartlands Communities. One of the aims of this exciting project is to work with communities in the Preseli area to create temporary museums in local villages. So, this was the opportunity to display the pictures along with interesting artefacts from the area. And that was it. Alun Ifans was roped in to assist Ann Morris and her husband Kenfin.

Bu tipyn o waith i’r criw ymlaen llaw i gasglu pethau at ei gilydd, cysylltu â phobl o’r ardal, copïo lluniau ac enwi’r sawl oedd ynddynt, a gweithio llaw yn llaw â phwyllgor y neuadd a PLANED. Llwyddwyd i greu arddangosfa a brofodd i fod yn atyniad poblogaidd a ddaeth a pobl at ei gilydd i hel atgofion, cwrdd â hen ffrindiau a mwynhau’r cymdeithasu bywiog. Hefyd, trefnwyd dwy ddarlith, dau weithdy i blant a phobl ifanc, a noson o ganu mawl – y cyfan yn boblogaidd iawn. Daeth llu ynghyd i’r cyfan –  penwythnos  arbennig!

There was a lot of work for the crew beforehand to gather things together, contact people from the area, copy pictures and name the people in them, and work hand in hand with the hall committee and PLANED. We managed to create an exhibition that proved to be a popular attraction that brought people together to reminisce, meet old friends and enjoy the lively socializing. In addition, two lectures were organized, two workshops for children and young people, and an evening of songs of praise – all very popular. A whole host came together – a great weekend!

Llesiant yn Nhirlun y Preseli – Wellbeing in the Preseli Landscape

Cafwyd diwrnod ysbrydoledig yn ddiweddar yng nghoetiroedd hyfryd a mawreddog Pentre Ifan; yn archwilio’r ffordd y gall ein cysylltiad hynafol â thirwedd a natur Preseli ddylanwadu ar ein hiechyd a’n lles. Dan arweiniad Andrew Dugmore o Reconnect in Nature (reconnectinnature.org.uk) gwnaethom rannu ein teimladau o fod yn yr awyr agored yn nhirwedd Preseli, ac arbrofi gyda thechnegau ymwybyddiaeth ofalgar i’n helpu i ddeall a dyfnhau ein cysylltiad â’r byd naturiol. Buom hefyd yn siarad am y ffyrdd y byddai ein cyndeidiau wedi byw a faint yn agosach at natur a’r awyr agored y byddent wedi bod; gan eu bod yn dibynnu arno am eu hanfodion sylfaenol a’u goroesiad. Diolch i bawb a fynychodd y diwrnod!

An inspiring day was had recently at the beautiful and majestic woodlands of Pentre Ifan; exploring the way our ancient connection to the Preseli landscape and nature can influence our health and wellbeing. Lead by Andrew Dugmore of Reconnect in Nature (reconnectinnature.org.uk) we shared our feelings of being outdoors in the Preseli landscape, and experimented with mindfulness techniques to help us understand and deepen our connection to the natural world. We also talked around the ways in which our ancestors would have lived and how much closer to nature and the outdoors they would have been; as they depended on it for their basic necessities and survival. Thanks to all that attended the day!

Digwyddiad Olaf y Slam Farddoniaeth – Final Poetry Slam Event

Trwy gydol y gwanwyn a’r haf hwn, cyflwynodd Celfyddydau Span yr ail brosiect celfyddydau cymunedol sydd wedi’i ymgorffori ym mhrosiect Ein Cymdogaeth Werin. Slam Barddoniaeth Preseli | Prosiect ysgrifennu a pherfformio barddoniaeth gymunedol oedd Slam Barddaidd y Preseli wedi’i leoli yng nghanol rhanbarth Preseli. Comisiynodd Celfyddydau Span y bardd Cymraeg eithriadol Karen Owen fel Bardd Preseli a oedd yn preswylio yn y sir am dri chyfnod ym mis Mai, Mehefin a Gorffennaf.

Throughout this spring and summer Span Arts delivered the second community arts elelement the Ein Cymdogaeth Werin project.  The Preseli Poetry Slam | Slam Barddoniaeth y Preseli was a community poetry writing and performance project set in the heart of the Preseli region.  Span Arts commissioned exceptional Welsh language poet Karen Owen as the Preseli Poet who was in residence in the county for three periods in May, June and July.

Yn ystod ei chyfnod preswyl aeth Karen ati i ysbrydoli pobl Sir Benfro i godi eu pensil ac ysgrifennu am eu bywydau yn yr ardal; eu meddyliau a’u teimladau am y dirwedd a’r bobl. Mae’r cerddi sy’n deillio o hyn yn fyfyrdodau personol, sensitif a doniol ar fywyd Preseli o amrywiaeth o safbwyntiau.

During her residency Karen set about inspiring the people of Pembrokeshire to pick up their pens and write about their lives in the area; their thoughts and feelings about the landscape and the people.  The resulting poems are personal, sensitive and thought-provoking reflections on Preseli life from a variety of perspectives.

Roedd y prosiect yn wirioneddol ddwyieithog ac yn rhoi llwyfan creadigol i bobl ymgysylltu â’r iaith ni waeth beth oedd lefel eu cymhwysedd, yr angerdd a’r brwdfrydedd a ddaeth i’r amlwg. Fel y nododd Karen, ‘cerddi Cymraeg yw’r rhain i gyd, ni waeth ym mha iaith y maent wedi cael eu hysgrifennu’.

The project was genuinely bilingual and gave a creative platform for people to engage with the language no matter what their level of competence, it was passion and enthusiasm which came to the fore.  As Karen remarked, ‘these are all Welsh poems, no matter what language they have been written in’.

Trefnodd Span weithdai mewn ysgolion, tafarndai, neuaddau pentref a sesiynau un i un yng nghartrefi cyfranogwyr ynysig ac oedrannus. Arweiniodd yr amrywiaeth amrywiol hon o feirdd cymunedol at ymgysylltiad cyfoethog â’r pwnc a’r iaith a throsodd dull personol Karen hyd yn oed y rhai mwyaf amharod i feirdd ysgrifennu a pherfformio’n ddiweddarach.

Span Arts organised workshops in schools, pubs, village halls and one-to-one sessions in the homes of isolated and elderly participants.  This diverse array of community poets gave rise to a rich engagement with the subject matter and language and Karen’s personable manner converted even the most reluctant to poets to write and later perform.

Daeth y prosiect i ben gyda Slam Barddoniaeth ddathliadol yn Neuadd Goffa Trefdraeth. Gwahoddwyd yr holl gyfranogwyr i ddod draw i berfformio eu cerddi i gynulleidfa o’u cyfoedion, i rannu diod a rhywfaint o fwyd. Roedd y noson yn llwyddiant mawr yn llawn chwerthin, canu adar a rhai perfformiadau teimladwy. Daeth un ar hugain o feirdd cymunedol draw i ddarllen tua deg ar hugain o gerddi i dorf sylwgar. Pan wahoddwyd y gynulleidfa i roi eu hadborth ar ffurf cerdd, cododd llawer i’r her. Fe wnaeth Karen sgleinio’r digwyddiad gyda première ddeinamig o’i cherdd newydd a ysgrifennwyd mewn ymateb i’r prosiect.

The project culminated in a celebratory Poetry Slam |Slam Barddoniaeth at Newport Memorial Hall.  All participants were invited to come along and perform their poems to an audience of their peers, to share a drink and some food.  The evening was a great success full of laughter, birdsong and some moving performances.  Twenty-one community poets came along to read around thirty poems to an attentive crowd.  When the audience were invited to give their feedback in the form of a poem, many rose to the challenge.   Karen polished off the event with a dynamic premiere of her new poem written in response to the project.

Diolch yn fawr i Span Arts, y Bardd Karen Owen ac i bawb a gymerodd ran yn y gweithdai Slam Barddoniaeth a’r digwyddiad olaf.

Many thanks to Span Arts, Poet Karen Owen and to everybody that took part in the Poetry Slam workshops and final event.

Great Place Nations Learning Event – Falkirk

Sophie recently attended the Great Place Nations Learning Event in Falkirk, Scotland. This event was an opportunity for all of the Great Place funded projects from Scotland, England, Ireland and Wales to come together and discuss their commonalities, challenges and successes experienced in delivering their projects. The morning began with a presentation from Oluwaseun Soemi, Policy Advisor and Programme Manager for the Heritage Lottery Fund who outlined the background of the Great Place Scheme and the research behind its creation. Following this, an inspirational presentation from the Northern Heartlands project outlining their work over the last two years of their project. The afternoon provided an opportunity for group work and discussion between projects. Thank you to the Audience Agency for facilitating this useful and fun day.

Yn ddiweddar mynychodd Sophie Ddigwyddiad Dysgu Cenhedloedd Mawr yn Falkirk, yr Alban. Roedd y digwyddiad hwn yn gyfle i bob un o’r prosiectau a ariannwyd gan y Cynllun Lle Arbennig o’r Alban, Lloegr, Iwerddon a Chymru ddod at ei gilydd a thrafod eu nodweddion cyffredin, heriau a llwyddiannau a brofwyd wrth gyflawni eu prosiectau. Dechreuodd y bore gyda chyflwyniad gan Oluwaseun Soemi, Cynghorydd Polisi a Rheolwr Rhaglen Cronfa Dreftadaeth y Loteri a amlinellodd gefndir y Cynllun Lle Arbennig a’r ymchwil y tu ôl i’w greu. Yn dilyn hyn, cafwyd cyflwyniad ysbrydoledig gan brosiect Northern Heartlands yn amlinellu eu gwaith dros ddwy flynedd ddiwethaf eu prosiect. Roedd y prynhawn yn gyfle i wneud gwaith grŵp a thrafodaeth rhwng prosiectau. Diolch i’r Asiantaeth Cynulleidfa am hwyluso’r diwrnod defnyddiol a hwyliog hwn.

Welsh Place Names Event – Digwyddiad Enwau Lleoedd Cymru

Sophie Jenkins of the Preseli Heartlands Project spent Friday and Saturday in the Newport community, collaborating with the Welsh Place Name Society. The aim was to begin to collect local names, and to raise awareness of the importance of recording and safeguarding place names as part of our cultural heritage here in Wales. The names collected will be added to a digital map, that will be available to view by the public in the future. Many thanks to Rhian Parry, Ifor Williams and Prof. David Thorne of the Society. We plan to arrange some further local name collecting events in the very near future in other Preseli communities.

Treuliodd Sophie Jenkins o Brosiect Ein Cymdogaeth Werin ddydd Gwener a dydd Sadwrn yng nghymuned Trefdraeth (Tydrath i bobl leol), gan gydweithio â Chymdeithas Enwau Lleoedd Cymru. Y nod oedd dechrau casglu enwau lleol, a chodi ymwybyddiaeth o bwysigrwydd cofnodi a diogelu enwau lleoedd fel rhan o’n treftadaeth ddiwylliannol yma yng Nghymru. Bydd yr enwau a gesglir yn cael eu hychwanegu at fap digidol, a fydd ar gael i’w weld gan y cyhoedd yn y dyfodol. Llawer o ddiolch i Rhian Parry, Ifor Williams a’r Athro David Thorne o’r Gymdeithas. Rydym yn bwriadu trefnu digwyddiadau casglu enwau lleol pellach yn y dyfodol mewn cymunedau Preseli eraill.
